Camp Leadership
Board of Directors
The Camp Rising Sun Board of Directors is composed of 15 seasoned Camp Rising Sun volunteers. Our Board hosts community leaders from various walks of life. Each and every one of them has a passion for helping people and a skill set to get the job done!
Our Board of Directors is responsible for obtaining funding and directing the well-being of camp. The Board of Directors is responsible for counselor training and leadership development.
Medical Team
CRS Medical Staff includes a doctor and full nursing staff who are on the premises 24 hours a day. Each child is monitored daily to make sure he or she is doing well and takes any prescribed medicine.
The medical staff takes an active part in camp life. You’ll find them driving golf carts around the campgrounds to check on their campers and staff alike! They often join in games and skits, participate in arts and crafts, sing silly songs, and urge campers to challenge themselves in a new activity.
Overnight Counselors
Overnight counselors make up a passionate group of volunteers 21 or older. Many counselors are former campers and CITS! Each overnight counselor undergoes extensive training, thorough background checks, and a detailed interview process.
Overnight counselors are responsible for the unique needs of each cabin. Counselors not only guide their campers through a week of adventures, he or she actively fosters relationships between cabin-mates and the camp family at large.
Counselors- In- Training
The CIT Program is designed for former campers who are 18 years of age and who would like to be considered for a Camp Rising Sun staff position in the future.
Day Volunteers
Camp Rising Sun maintains a high ratio of adults to campers at all times. This is made possible by our legion of day volunteers who range from ladies of the Junior Auxiliary to Airmen of our local Air Force base! Each volunteer at CRS undergoes a background check and extensive training.
Kitchen Staff
Camp Rising Sun campers & volunteers enjoy 3 square meals a day. Many of meals are donated or cooked on site. Each meal is carefully prepared by a dedicated crew of CRS volunteers who makes sure each camper’s dietary needs (and mostly wants) are filled.
